Old Fairview townsite 1

This is a project I'm trying to work on in the evenings after my RadioShack day job. I'm supposed to do six illustrations for the town of Oliver, for a planned project to turn the site of a nearby town, Fairview, into a historical site. Almost all traces of Fairview disappeared a long time ago. And I mean disappeared! you can see a few pits where there used to be basements, and a few bits of rock wall, but otherwise -- nothing.

Anyway, this is the first illustration, a lookout over the town of Oliver. Haven't added the people or the interpretive signs yet.

openCanvas over a reference photo. Yep, I used a WACOM tablet. Took about three hours, ten layers, four glasses of water, and 2400 by 1800 pixels.
